What We Consider Abuse

Domain abuse can present itself in several ways, including but not restricted to:

• Phishing, or the impersonation of a genuine organisation or website
• Distribution of malware, ransomware, or comparable malicious software
• Scams, fraud, or other conduct intended to deceive
• Bulk or unsolicited spam messaging
• Violations of intellectual property rights
• Any other conduct that breaches UK law or falls foul of Nominet’s policies

How to Report

To flag suspected abuse, email us at the address given on our Contact page. Where you’re able to, please include:

• The domain name affected
• A clear summary of the behaviour you’ve noticed
• Any evidence that supports your report, such as URLs, screenshots, or email headers
• A way for us to reach you if we need to follow up

What Happens After You Report

Reports are reviewed as soon as they reach us, in line with both UK law and Nominet’s rules. You should receive an acknowledgement within one working day of submitting your report.

Where our investigation finds that abuse has occurred, we will act accordingly — this could involve contacting the registrant, suspending the domain in question, or referring the matter on to the appropriate authorities. In some instances, legal or confidentiality obligations may restrict how much detail we’re able to share with you about the outcome
