Registering a Domain

Where you register a co.uk or .uk domain through us, that registration sits directly with Nominet, the body responsible for administering all .uk domain names. Our role in this arrangement is that of your registrar, and we serve as your administrative contact.

Because the domain is registered under your name rather than ours, it falls to you to make sure the details supplied when registering are accurate and kept current.

Registering a domain gives you the right to use it only for the period you’ve paid for. Keeping it active depends on renewing before that term ends. A domain that isn’t renewed may be moved into a suspension period, and if it stays unrenewed beyond that, it can eventually be released and made available for someone else to register.

What It Costs

We charge £10 per year as our standard rate for registering or renewing a .uk domain. Should we ever need to change this pricing, customers will be given advance notice before it takes effect. Moving a domain out to another registrar is free of charge.

Keeping Your Domain Renewed

It’s the customer’s responsibility to make sure a domain is renewed in good time. As a helpful measure, we try to send reminder notices ahead of expiry — usually around 30 days out, and once more roughly 7 days before the deadline.

While we do our best to send these notices, we can’t promise they’ll reach you every time, so it’s worth keeping your contact details current to improve the odds of getting them.

Moving to Another Registrar

In keeping with Nominet’s transfer rules, you’re free to move your domain to a different registrar whenever you like. We don’t charge anything for transfers going out.

Limits on Our Liability

We are not liable for any loss or damage that results from a domain lapsing due to non-renewal, from service disruptions caused by third parties, or from steps Nominet takes under its own policies. Where we are found liable in any given case, that liability is capped at the fees you’ve paid for the domain in question.

Handling Disputes

Disputes or complaints concerning .uk domain registrations fall under Nominet’s Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) and are handled according to its own rules and procedures. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
